The department of Engineering Physics forms the supporting department to various engineering disciplines. The staff members of the department are actively involved in many curricular, extracurricular activities of the college and also in research activities. The department is permitted to offer Ph.D/M.Sc (Engg.) by research programs from VTU, during the year 2012 - 2013. Currently, four research students are perusing Ph.D degree under VTU through Research Centre of Department of Physics.

Vision
To build foundation for Academic Excellence by offering quality teaching, imparting practical skills and conducting research activities in Physics. Further, emphasizing the importance of Physics in inter-disciplinary engineering courses for sustainable and advanced technological development for the growth in scientific knowledge.
Mission
1. To achieve Academic Excellence in Engineering Physics, with dissemination of knowledge of the subject, conducting scientific research activities, imparting experimental skills and learning with innovative pedagogy
2. To impress upon the importance of knowledge of physics and its application in engineering with the intention of knowledge augmentation
3. To offer support to the engineering programs in interdisciplinary problem solving in the domain of Physics
